We have bees buzzing around all our lavendar in the front yard but they seem not to like my garden space near the dog pen and I don't see any bees (other than 1 one day) around my many cucumber flowers. So, I decided to try hand polinating. Unlike Zuchinni flowers that are large and Qtips love grabbing the male flower goods to then swipe on femail Zuch flowers, cucumber flowers are fairly small. Qtip does not really fit in the flower. So, the 3 small cucs I have I broke off a mail flower for each cucumber and pulled off the leaves. I then grabbed the middle section and stuck it in the female cucumber flower and swiped it around. I then left the little male part in the flower.
I now have one 4 inch cucumber but it is a horseshoe shape so that tells me it was polinated but not well. The other 2 cucumbers are rather small still so we will see.
Anyway, what is the best way to polinate cucumbers.
