If there is a way that you could build a small coop with some nests and a roost inside and then fence an area where they can run out during the day would be a good way to go. They do so much better if they can scratch around for bugs and get grit. Raising chickens can get a little pricey but it is quite rewarding. At present we have one rooster, 7 laying hens and 21 young feathered out chicks. All Rhode Island Reds.

Well Dody I just moved from Jenks two years ago. We lived there 15 years. We lived just west of the Aquarium. Anyway, we grew a garden in our backyard almost every year. It did very well most times. The front yard was two shady for anything. We never had any trouble with anyone getting into our yard. Jenks is a pretty safe community. Good luck with your garden next year!

Farmer, I noticed on your website that you needed jars for canning. If you have a chance to go to thrift stores or yard sales you might find some good deals on jars. As you probably already know they want a pretty penny for the new ones in the stores. Hope this helps. Squashbug
