Thanks, Justin. I think I had my own private miracle yesterday. When I went to look at 5:00ish, the leaf I felt had a covering of ice on it. It looked like the whole garden was lightly covered. But it appears that the ice actually protected the plants! They suffered zero damage!! Last night we didn't take chances & everythig was covered that doesn't like cold. The thermometer in the herb garden said it got to 33.6 last night. That is too close to freezing for comfort. Inside the greenhouse it got to 39.9!! It is supposed to warm up starting today and the garden will like that. It did rain yesterday, about .25 inches which brings us up to .67 inches in the last week. Yay!!

I may have lost my garden to a hard freeze last night.  I faithfully watched the news & they reported lows expected in the mid forties with cloud cover all night.  I woke at 4:15 to clear skies & COLD.  The thermometer by the house says 36.  It is often 10 degrees warmer by the house.  I should know soon.  The cool weather crops should be okay, & the tomatoes & peppers are covered.  But the squash crops, & the beans & corn weren't.

Aw, how I enjoy living in SD (South Dakota). Here are poachers are the four legged kind. 6 foot high fences, with a strand of electric wire around the area & sonic rodent chaser, with a large d og have discouraged my poachers.
