Hi all,
This is my second go around with strawberries. My first attempt 4 years ago produced very small berries and then they just stopped producing. Someone told me you're supposed to not keep the parent plant each year and only keep the off-shoots. I can't imagine that would be true? Then I discovered ants were building "nests" all around the roots. They didn't kill the plants, but I wonder. After 2 years of no berries, I tore them all out and didn't plant any last year. This year, I've decided to try again. I bought some everbearing and planted them in full sun, in a different spot. Are there any tips anyone out there can give me to be successful with strawberries?
Much appreciated...
Beth
I finished the strawberry planter project and got my mess cleaned up today. I'm pretty happy with it. I just need to get some soil and plants in it now. The box is all re-used/ salvaged material except a handful of screws and nails. It's mounted high on the fence to keep our dogs out of the strawberries.
