Wow! 134 lbs that's a fantastic harvest! Mine harvest was disappointing also. Thanks for sharing your 'secrets', I may try some of them next year. What did you use for the lasagna layers?

Walk paths were established with whole newspapers (I use our local weekly entertainment and alternative new paper) for uniform size..covered then with wood chips salvaged when the tree guys are in the neighborhood.... they are always happy to have a place to dump them! Then the beds got a layer of newspaper to finish off the grass and create some airspace to let the good stuff start happening. The newspaper was followed with layers or sawdust, straw, compost, horse manure, goat manure, leaves, grass clippings... wood ashes... and anything else you would ordinarily put into your compost bin... basically you are making a compost pile.... When I was done layering the pile was 12-15 inches deep.... I watered the layers... then covered then... less

This year I have the healthiest looking tomato plants ever! I can't wait for the ripening to happen! All plants are heirloom tomatoes... Some are volunteers that came up in the compost.. and were transplanted here.
